Imagination and Reality Exhibition Finishes

Imagination and Reality Image

Our inaugural Temporary Moorings exhibition, Imagination and Reality: the Art of Arthur Ransome finished yesterday, September 4.

A big “thank you” to everyone who came to see it. We do hope that you found it both enjoyable and informative, and that it complimented your visit to John Ruskin’s home at Brantwood.

Our thanks are also due once again to Howard, Rachel and all of the staff at The Brantwood Trust, who hosted and partnered ART in this exhibition, and who gave us unremitting enthusiasm, advice and support; to Helen, James and their colleagues at The Lakeland Arts Trust, who supported the exhibition with the generous loan of Arthur Ransome’s sketchbooks and other artefacts from the Museum of Lakeland Life, Kendal; to Chris and his staff at The Brotherton Collection, University of Leeds Library, who likewise supported the exhibition with the loan of original artwork from their archives; to Stephen and his staff at the Ruskin Library, Lancaster, for preparing the artwork for display, and to the Arthur Ransome Literary Estate and Random House UK, Ltd, for permission to use extracts from Arthur Ransome’s works in the Exhibition Notes and publicity.

You can read a more detailed review of the exhibiton here, in the Previous Events section of our site.
